What to Wear to the Pumpkin Patch

Spooky season is here – but never mind Halloween and only Halloween; autumn is about so much more than that. So, while this article offers inspiration for a trip to the pumpkin patch (after all, it seems to be a seasonally on-trend way to spend the day), you could put these tips into practice for the next month at least. Read on…

Layer Up this Autumn

Thankfully, we’re past that point in the year when the weather doesn’t know what it’s doing: that awkward time when it’s too hot for a coat but too cold for a cardigan. Instead, you can now go full-blown autumn or winter wear if you like.

Break out that trusty, fleece-lined jacket or grab your favourite, thick coat – we’re all about keeping warm at Breton Shirt Company.

If you’re still not 100% sure whether you’re ready for winter clothes, try layering up your favourite Breton shirt instead. A thin cardigan or knit over your shirt and under a lightweight jacket or coat should do it on warmer days, while a chunky cardi and that fleece-lined coat is the best bet when it’s cooler. Either way, choose your autumn and winter wardrobe well and it’ll work for just about any occasion – you can’t go wrong with our Navy Breton Shirt.

Throw on a Casual Dress with Boots

Whether you’re pairing it with wellies or your well-worn, much-loved biker boots, you can’t go far wrong with a casual dress and a thick pair of tights. Add a slouchy jumper and you’re ready for post-pumpkin patch mulled cider. Outside, you’ll want your winter coat – but autumn and winter weather needn’t just be about long-sleeved garments.

You could find a way to team a short-sleeved dress like this one (linked and pictured above) with something a little bit warmer. Add a blazer, some leggings and an oversized scarf and hat and you’ll be sorted on warmer, crisper days. Or days when you’re not in the thick of the cold but in and out of cosy, country pubs.

Try a Floaty Skirt

There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t wear a floaty skirt to your local farm – it’s all about what you team it with. Add a pair of tights again and some ankle boots and you’ve toughened up an otherwise summery or spring look. A long, belted mac-style coat and you’re ready for the day.

It’s Time to Wear Those 'Mom;' Jeans

‘Mom’ jeans are ideal for just about anything, aren’t they? Tuck a long-sleeved Breton shirt into your go-to pair and you have a winning ensemble for any autumnal day out.

Add a pair of heeled boots and turn those jeans up at the bottom. Or pair them with ‘90s platform-style trainers for a fun but casual look that’ll see you through just about any weekend. Of course, you’ll probably want a jumper or a coat, but when you’re indoors with that mulled cider or hot choccy, you can whip those off and show off your Breton instead. Brilliant!
